The accelerator stuck on my car as I was pulling into my driveway and I ran into my garage. I damaged both my car and my house. My insurance is telling me that the car is covered by my car insurance and the house is covered by my homeowner's policy (both car and homeowner's insurance is with the same company) so I have to pay two separate deductibles. Does this sound right?

Insurance for house which has been underpinned?

I am in the process of buying a property but according to the survey I got it will need underpinning on one corner. I have phoned lots of insurance companies up even specialist ones but if I do buy the house no insurance company is prepared to take the house on because of the underpinning. I really like the property and the area. Does anybody know of any insurance which will take on the property once I have bought it. I have tried all the insurance companys which state they will take on houses with subsidence but they wont cover until a year after it has been monitoried. It is hard to find a property like the one I want for the price because it is a quiet area and nice gardens and near to work

Why should people who dont pay insurance get a free house?

Example: Two different families own a house each, earn around the same income. One family goes without to pay house insurance, the other doesn't care. The person who doesn't pay insurance has their house burn down - the community donate them a free house. WHY? What is the point of sacrifice if those who don't invest in their future get more? I AM ANGRY Because for years i have been without, our whole family has, while those around us have skipped insurance and had extra. A fire happened and the neighbours will be better off than before the fire, it makes me wonder why i sacrifice when these people get what ever they need ?

Should we cancel the house insurance ?

My sister and I have joint custody of the house we grew up in back in the 70's and 80's. Our mother still lives there. The house was paid for a long time ago. Other than the obvious reason of having house insurance in case of an emergency or disaster, what other reasons are there to have it? What would happen if we cancelled it? Any legal issues ? We probably won't, but just curious . Thanks !

How do you measure square feet? I have to measure my house for insurance purposes?

Last year it was insured for 1600 sq ft. This year they decided (on their own wihtout measuring it) that it is 3,000 sq ft! Even the town taxes me at 1400 sq ft! The insurance company said the town does that to help ppl save on taxes but I'm not so sure I believe them. This town is money hungry. Its not like them to try to help someone. Unless they can help you part with your money. My house is 1&1/2 story. The upstairs walls are slanted inwards in all rooms but one and the short hallway. It is a 4 bedroom but very small rooms. The insurance company said to times length by width and then add 1/2 of that for the upstairs. Is that right? I'm not sure I believe them. All they want is my money!

What can you do if you discover black mold in your house, can you claim any damages from house insurance?

I know you need to wear a mask and gloves and use javex and ammonia to wash it away. I am allergic to mold, dust, and dustmites, so I believe I should wear a charcoal filtered mask to protect me from the toxins, it looks like a gas mask, and can be purchased from the safety supply store.

Are stolen items on house insurance?

Today I had my handbag stolen with my ipod and camera inside. I have reported it to the police, but do you get stolen items, (or the money equivalents) on your house insurance?
